The Lucerne native and the “Discovery of the Year in Switzerland 2019” Pascal Steffen, has been serving at the Roots restaurant in Basel directly on the banks of the Rhine since 2017.

In his kitchen, vegetables take center stage. Meat and fish play a supporting role – albeit an Oscar-worthy one.

The restaurant guide Gault&Millau rates his cooking with 17 points and the Guide Michelin awards one star. The Lucerne-born chef learned from the great stars: Andreas Caminada, Armin Amrein, Nenad Mlinarevic. They all challenged and encouraged the young Lucerne native.
